“Unalive”

Definition: This word is used to express exactly what it implies, and yet there are direct ways of saying it…i.e. “Dead”.

One user expressed their feelings on the use of this word: “The only stuff I have a problem with is the algorithmically driven tiktok euphemisms, people saying “unalive” for kill, that kind of thing. Language is always gonna change but to let it get changed by social media content restrictions is a depressing idea.”

“Slap”

Definition: At first you might think the word “slap” has a negative connotation…related to the action, which is typically done in a negative fashion. However, in the case of our youth, and current slang terms, “slap” in fact means good.

Here is how “slap” came into this users conversation: “A much younger co-worker brought in these hot wings from a place I’d never tried. And he offered me one saying ‘you gotta try these, they slap.'” – they were in fact good wings.

“Flex”

Definition: This word means to show off or brag about something. It’s often used in a negative way, but it can also be used in a positive way to describe someone who is confident and successful.
